Nuke Round 3 Highlights - Byron IL

The rain has still been plaging the Midwest rounds cancelling everything I planned for Saturday, but Sunday was dry enough for Nuke 3 at Motorsports park in Byron IL to get underway. Some great battles were had through-out the day with a great turn-out even though some of the qualifiers were going on near-by. Check out some of the highlights from the races!

Some great races to note started off in the B class particularly Open B. Nick Inman and Mark Marincic were battling out front in both classes, in Open B they were going hard back and forth through-out both motos with Marincic winning the first. In the second moto Marincic took the hole shot, but Inman was charging hard to make the pass.  On the second lap Marincic got back into the lead as the went back and forth with Inman coming away with the victory.  Brian Krohn took third both motos for a third overall, Inman took first going second and first;  Marincic took second overall going first and second.

Nick Inman first overall 250 B and Open BLater on in the Day Open A came out blazing with 10 riders making it up to the line.  The biggest ride of the day going to Justing Kelly in the second Moto.  In the First moto Kelly took the win followed by Zach Coons and Ty Tyrrell.  In the second moto Kelly was coming into the first turn hard, bouncing off of Tyrrell causing a little drama only to fall himself after hooking bars Logan Skaggs. This got him started off in eight place and charging hard.  Coons took the holeshot leaving him and Tyrrell up front starting to make a good lead. Chris Lazzaretto was right there with them with a pretty large gap to fourth place. As the laps ticked away Kelly was picking them off one by one up to the white flag where he passed Lazzaretto for third.  This shook things up for the overall giving Tyrrell first with a last lap pass, Coons second and Kelly third.

Justin Kelly Third overall Open A Overall the day was great out at Byron with a great turn out and some equally great weather.  The next race is May 26th, with the Regional closing in fast.  The track has once again under-gone some changes since I was there last, mainly with the start getting some turns added changing up from the straight-away it was last race. Also the downhill U-turn was added back in to the top of track.  Things are always shaking up and we look forward to seeing whats in store for the next race.
