All you do is press a button!

Now I personally haven't had anyone tell me this(there's a first time for everything right!), but it is a common misconception that all a photographers job involves is pressing a button. Our time cant be worth anything right?

Pressing the shutter button is probably about 5% of what our job consists of.   Take a quote I read recently, I thought was pretty witty "you want to take better pictures? Stand in front of better things".  Take that advice and stand in front of dirt bikes going over jumps, bumps and turns and the pressing of the button gets exponentially harder.

April Fools Joliet MX Practice

AJ Miksys

Today I made my way out to the local track to shoot some practice.  I was mainly going out to practice some stuff of my own. I have been working on panning a lot the last couple races I've went to, and I was able to really nail some stuff today. I am pretty stoked how they turned out.

PERFECT DAY AT KINGSTON MX 03.30.12

Today was a perfect day for some riding at Kingston MX. The owner of the track Rick Riehm, put on a Saturday practice for all who wanted to ride. The track was about as mint as they come. Had a great time riding and taking photos!

Make sure to check back for More images and a GoPro video from Kingston MX!

Staff Write-Up || About Josh Rud

Hey whats up everyone, I wanted to blog a little bit about myself and what I love to do.  I will be talking alot about photography on top of bringing some race reports and behind the scenes accounts of events.

My name is Josh Rud, I run a photography business called ShiftOne Photography and I have had a passion for art my entire life.  I've been into photography and playing with photoshop since high school (may have been a little while ago, who's counting right).  I've taken huge risks starting this business, quit my job, working completely for myself. I also do photoshop work, mainly for fashion photographers during the week while im not shooting moto.  I find editing to be a large part of photography, while I actually dont spend tons of time on my motocross images, if I really need to save something messed up I have the skills to do it.

Some time at Cambridge MX

Took my first trip ever up to the Cambridge Mx track, as well as starting my Mx season. All I can say is I had an awesome time, and found some nice spots for shots during tomorrows race.

Keep an eye out for videos and other updates from this event!
