Race miniReport + PDF Results (Budds Creek MX 2014)

Round 7 of the Lucas Oil Motocross championship is now under wraps, and now with the season over the half way mark, Championship favorites are starting to get more hopeful that their season will continue to go well. Now with a 27 point lead, Jeremy Martin is far from a relaxing lead over Blake Baggett or Cooper Webb. That said, the next round at Spring Creek MX park will be akin to playing in his own back yard, as well as good expectations for some of the other tracks coming up in the championship.

A similar story can be told with the 450 class, as Ken Roczen is now 26 points ahead of teammate Ryan Dungey, and a full 63 points ahead of the 3rd position held by Trey Canard. Lots can still happen in the series, and one can't discount the consistency and patience of Minnesota's Ryan Dungey. As with the lead Martin currently has, All riders are going to have to balance speed, with calculated risk, to maintain or improve their current championship position. This season is a great one to watch indeed!

Zack Williams (Red Bud National 2014)

Budds Creek saw quite a few Minnesota riders in the afternoon motos. Clay Chapiewski may not have had fast enough lap times in practice to make it in directly, however he showed his true skill during the LCQ by putting down fast laps when it counted. After a good start, he ended the session 2nd overall, earning a ticket into the afternoon show. Zack Williams qualified 32nd, with Annandale Minnesota's Brandon Riehm right behind him in 33rd.

All together, their presence in the afternoon show in addition to Alex & Jeremy Martin, made Minnesota tie California for being a state with the most riders in the afternoon show. Taking everything into account, that isn’t half bad for a state that has little or no riding 6 months out of the year!
